Course Summary

The purpose of this short 1-hour mini-course is to examine how you can be an effective school board member for your local Seventh-day Adventist school.

What Will I Learn ?

By the end of this course, you will be able to apply board-member principles and policies to board meetings and school board activities.

What Do I Need To Know ?

After completing the learning activities and taking a short multiple choice quiz, you’ll earn 0.1 continuing education units and a training certificate in your Adventist Learning Community ePortfolio.

After completing this course for continuing education credit, you may re-enroll in the course for the purposes of resource retrieval, but not earn any additional CEUs.

Instructor

Dr. Larry Blackmer

Larry has served at Grand Ledge Academy in Grand Ledge, Michigan as both teacher and principal; at Adelphian Academy in Holly, Michigan as vice principal and boys’ dean; and as principal at Mount Pisgah Academy in North Carolina in Candler, North Carolina and Takoma Academy in Takoma Park, Maryland. Larry also served for seven years as associate superintendent in the Michigan Conference. He also served as superintendent of schools in the Idaho Conference. Prior to serving as the vice president of education for the NAD, Larry served as associate director of education for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America. His duties include secondary education, marketing, and technology.
