Cheat Sheet for PowerPoint – Basic Tips and Tricks

  • To use two columns you can find the button at the Home tab and between the aligning text buttons and the green Convert to Smart Art button; two columns are helpful for spreading out information and also for slides that have matching on them
  • To change the format for the title/body faster, highlight a portion of the desired font style and size and click format painter (little paintbrush on Home tab to the top right of the screen) and then highlight the entire portion of the ugly font you want to change with your mouse and bam! finished 🙂
  • To insert anything, go to Insert tab right next to Home tab and find the text box, pictures, smart art (Smart Art helps if you want to recreate an ugly diagram and make it beautiful), shapes (Shapes helps if you need arrows and things) and Icons (Icons helps if you need a simple concept picture of a house, books, etc.)
  • To move several items at once, highlight all the desired items with the mouse then click any box from the items to move them all at once
  • Sometimes there are unwanted background graphics or spiderlike effects and such. To change this go to Format Background under the Design tab and check the box that says Hide Background Graphics and select Apply to All
  • If the screen ever looks small and is showing the notes, go to the View tab and click the Notes button and that should make your life easier
  • If you ever lose the favorited folder, to re-favorite it follow this directory:

This PC> Alcnas>ALC Edit>Folder you want

Drag the folder into the favorites bar and done 🙂
