Welcome to the TLT Instructor Operations!

Course Summary

The purpose of this self-study course is to prepare Pathfinder leaders to become Teen Leadership Training (TLT) Instructors who qualify for teaching TLT workshops at a conference-sponsored TLT Convention where TLT academic Credit may be earned.  This course is divided into four learning modules with learning activities and a quiz for each model.

What Will I Learn ?

You will learn the simple tasks and responsibilities that Conference-level TLT Instructors must follow to assist Conference Pathfinder Directors and TLT Coordinators in making a Conference TLT Program successful.

What Do I Need to Know ?

You need to have a copy of the Teen Leadership Training Director’s Guide (AdventSource, 2016) because this is the source material for this course.  References will be made to specific content within its pages.  Following the successful completion of this course, you will receive a completion certificate.  If you are an invested Master Guide and want to continue to work toward an Adventist Youth Ministry Training (AYMT) Certification then you will need to complete the required field work outlined below.

If you are a pastor or teacher, after completing this course for continuing education credit, you may re-enroll in the course for the purposes of resource retrieval, but not earn any additional CEUs.

Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  1. Implement conference-sponsored TLT training criteria to help conference staff fulfill TLT requirements.
  2. Understand the Lab Planning and Department Evaluation processes related to TLT workshop instruction.
  3. Prepare activity-based lesson plans that will engage TLTs in learning leadership skills within their clubs.
  4. Understand how TLT workshop instruction relates to conference TLT records and academic credit.

TLT Course Information

  1. This course is intended to be a self-study course for assisting the Conference Pathfinder leaders in the fundamental aspects of operating a successful TLT ministry.  The learning experience will be helpful for all Pathfinder staff who desire to transition their conference Pathfinder ministry into a Leadership Skills Development Program for their teens.
  2. This course is part of a series of TLT Staff Training Courses.  Additional courses include: TLT Mentor Operations, Club Director / TLT Associate Director Operations, Area/District Coordinator Operations, and Conference Director / TLT Coordinator Operations.
  3. This course will assist all conference Pathfinder leaders in meeting the TLT Academic Credit Option requirements.  All instructors teaching TLT workshops should take this course, even if they have a Pathfinder Instructors Award (PIA), since this course is specifically developed to meet the TLT program concepts and requirements.
  4. Facilitating all the components of TLT Ministry is a complex and sometimes confusing work; especially for staff who are unfamiliar with the TLT program. It is natural to feel lost or confused; however, the payoff is well worth the effort.  Pray for wisdom and vision as you work through this course. God will bless you!
